Temperatures remain in the high Nineties as Hemmings Challenge Vintage Car Rally participants tackle the road course on day two. Competition got a lot tighter today with 21 Aces scored among the 45 participants. Our Hemmings Speedster crew garnered two of the Ace awards given daily for teams finishing a leg of the competition on perfect time.
Winners for the day’s were Steve and Edward Tourje in their 1946 Ford. Our Hemmings Speedster finished 28th for the day but only 28 seconds off perfect. Two-day totals show a three-way tie for the overall lead between Dan and Bill Loubiere in their ‘32 Ford, Gab and Evonna Joiner in their ‘32 Ford and Corky Coker and Greg Cunningham in their ‘32 Ford. Do we see a pattern here? All three teams were only 20 seconds off perfect time for the whole two days of the event so far. The Hemmings team is currently in 24th place however they are only 25 seconds off the first place cumulative times.
Day three journeys towards Carthage, Missouri, with a return to Springfield by dinner time. More updates to follow.
