Commenter Of The Day: Carey Loftin Edition [Commenter Of The Day]

Stunt coordinators are a lot like automotive journalists in that their profession requires a significant amount of driving and, at the end of the day, many of the cars they drive end up destroyed. And when talking about stunt drivers it would be hard not to mention Carey Loftin, the man behind many of the most memorable drives. He was the main driver for Steve McQueen in Bullitt. Famously, he was the evil truck driver in Spielberg's Duel, though we never had a chance to see his face. He was even responsible for stunts in comedies like It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. Though we may not remember it as one of the greatest car movies of all time, he also contributed to The Love Bug, in which a Volkswagen Beetle takes the personality of a human being. Today we asked you what car had the personality of Barack Obama and, among the many comical answers, we found the response from Smalleyxb122 to be hilariously pessimistic.

NASCAR's Car of Tomorrow.

A lot of hype leading to the same old boring race.

Standardization to even out the field.

A lot of new safety equipment to save us from ourselves.

And it only goes left.
